Poonch, Kashmir: The national tour organised as part of the centenary action programmes of Samastha has commenced in Kashmir, with scholars and religious leaders calling for greater efforts to strengthen national consciousness and uphold democratic and secular values among the people.

The initiative, part of Samastha’s centenary programmes, seeks to take its message to different parts of the country while promoting awareness of India’s democratic and secular traditions. Speakers at ‘The Set Up’, a scholars’ gathering held in Poonch, Kashmir, emphasised the need for religious scholars to remain vigilant and play a constructive role in nurturing national consciousness among the public.

The national tour was formally inaugurated by P.S.K. Moidu Baqavi Madavoor, a member of the Samastha Central Mushawara. Maulana Sultan Ahmad Naqshbandi presided over the programme, while Syed Fidad Hussain Bukhari led the prayer.

Kerala Muslim Jamaath State Secretary Muhammad Paravoor and North Zone Coordinator Shoukath Bukhari Kashmir delivered presentations on various subjects. Scholars and representatives, including Mufti Maulana Farooq Ahmad Misbahi, Maulana Hafiz Abdul Majeed Madani, Muhammad Mustafa Naeemi and ICF Secretary Usman Saqafi Thiruvathra, also addressed the gathering.

The programme highlighted concerns over attempts to undermine democratic and secular values in the country and stressed the responsibility of scholars in strengthening social awareness and national consciousness.
